Dry Ground Burning 2022
1. Delightful performances from the leads down to the extras, with plenty of amazing music I've never heard before.
2. Also a thrill as far as genre, meshing documentary and Mad Max elements in equal parts.

Our Father, the Devil 2021
1. Yet another film that makes bartending look like a better job than the one I've got.

The Group 1966
1. Man, this kind of movie never gets made any more.
2. It's already a long film but we were clearly robbed of scenes of Candice Bergen's life as a lesbian on the Continent in the 30s.
3. I gotta look up more pictures featuring the young Jessica Walter. Play Misty for Me?
4. There's an excellent performance from the recently departed Shirley Knight, who comes to be the star of the picture in the second and third act.
5. I feel that these ladies, as a whole, deserved some hotter guys to hook up with throughout the picture.

A Place of Our Own 2004
1. Having only seen Stanley Nelson's more straightforward, historical documentaries, I really liked this more personal tale.
2. While he does give background to Oak Bluffs, the historically African-American town in Martha's Vineyard, Nelson dives in to his own family history with the place.
3. I obviously adored the 90s/early 2000s fashions on display and the relaxed way people spoke with Nelson on camera, like they had just spent a long day in the sun.
