  Much more interesting than you'd expect. I'm thrilled with what was accomplished here with the committed performances, gritty racial/class politics, and the grease and oil action set pieces. This is a lovely beacon for all DTV genre fare—the minimal ingredients of what should be: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

  God, this thing is righteous. If only each entry in the franchise continued riffing off of the iconography associated with the holiday. Instead, we’ll just have to continue celebrating the best John Carpenter film that he never directed.
