it’s how painstakingly patient bong is that makes every rewatch of his works even more worthwhile than the last. it allows for reflection and introspection in real time, the consideration of details you might have neglected and failed to clock before, and the endless dissection of the ones you did, those that make the inevitably brilliant conclusion you’re waiting for that much more worthwhile. i go back and forth between this and PARASITE, but it’s hard to pick the “wrong” masterpiece when you’re trying to choose which one of the few is his best.

all in for docs —> scripted features if they’re as competent and well-paced as this one. some script issues and one note performances hold it back (looking at you, emotionless simu liu) but it makes you laugh/tear up at its emotional highs and tense up at its devastating lows. plus, woody harrelson plays himself if he was a diver with a penchant for wearing hawaiian shirts. what else could the people want.
