  I enjoyed this. Hollywood definitely got its grubby little mitts all over it and traded the musical’s concision and subtlety for weighty head bonks of excess. But Cynthia and Ariana’s star power was too bright to dull. I was genuinely moved by both performances throughout, and I wish the film focused more on their relationship and characterization. Some other negatives: 

  - Nearly all the choreography was a hot mess. 
  - The infinitely spawning ensemble of theater kids was a bit…
