Top cast provide characters that do not demand favouritism yet deal emotional pain when they come to misfortune, despite their own dirty dealings.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles 1987
Straightforward late 20th century comedy. Enjoyed the friction between the pair and the use of Christmas themes in a different context (Thanksgiving). Decision to have a difficult to like Scrooge-esque protagonist battling against time and chance to make it back home in time for the holidays, dependent always on the good nature of John Candy's character was a welcome change to other 'buddy comedies'.
