Oppenheimer was very good. The serious tone and gravity of the subject matter lent itself very well to director Christopher Nolan. While based in history, I’m sure the movie took liberties where it could, but I actually did learn a bit about the Manhattan project and those involved from the movie. There was also a part of the movie where I was truly holding my breath and sitting at the end of my seat. If any movie can get that sort of reaction out of me, it warrants high praise. Oppenheimer lived up to the hype.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
I haven’t left a theater as excited for the next movie in a very long time. This movie captures what made the first movie great, like the score, art style, and story, and multiplies it tenfold. Almost every scene is literally a work of art. They took a D tier villain from a goofy joke and turned him into an actual threat. You can tell how much everyone that was involved in this movie cares about Across the Spiderverse as much as they did Into the Spiderverse. Such an awesome film and I can’t wait for Beyond the Spiderverse.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 2023
Such an emotional end to the guardians and what a ride it has been. Paced well, good humor, and no shortage of heartbreaking moments. I tend to find myself walking out of movies thinking about what I would have done differently or what I would have liked better, but I wouldn’t have ended it any other way. James Gunn took such good care of his trilogy, and the fans, myself included, should be nothing but thankful that a writer and film maker could take us on the ride he did. Farewell Guardians.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022
I honestly liked it a lot. The animation was shot in a fewer frame rate which made the action scenes have a lot more of a punch. Aside from it being a kids movie, the jokes were funny, full of good references, and the villain was actually scary. Any time the wolf whistles, you get goosebumps. They did such an incredible job making the villain seem like an actual threat. Honestly kind of reminded me of Anton Chigur from no country. Not a theater must see, but a must see for sure.
