Action sequences were pleasant enough. Sean Astin, Marshawn Lynch, and Ke Huy Quan were delightful in this.

Sadly, the story just doesn't hold up, imho. Ariana DeBose's character is horribly written, there's a few too many unnecessary deaths, and the villains were meh.

Overall, a serviceable Jackie Chan-esque action flick with a plot 100x worse than its inspirations, John Wick and Nobody.

Yes, this movie definitely did not age well with Kevin Space being..., well, Kevin Spacey. Add to that the ephebophilia, homophobia, and toxic patriarchy and it's definitely showing its age. Artistically, though, I think it still holds up and that drive-thru scene is 💯.

Discounting the questionable elements of the film (e.g. weird age gap, Asian impersonation) as a product of the 1970s setting, Licorice Pizza is a fascinating coming-of-age/slice of life movie. It perfectly depicts what I always imagined adolescence would have been like if I grew up in 1970s USA. Yes, I am aware it's a weird thing to have imagined.

I'm not a sociologist so I won't comment on the supposed white saviorism of the movie. It happened in real life, though, so I guess that's got to be a counterargument against that.

If only all teachers were even a tenth as dedicated as how Erin Gruwell was portrayed, the world will be a far better place.
