i kinda fucked with how over the top the acting was. super dramatic, and holy shit Nicholas Hoult was locked in in the first half. the looks of terror on his face were so striking and freaky.
this film also had a knack for slow camera pans.. rlly good cinematography all around tho. glad i could actually see what was happening during night scenes.
i was surprised by the true gothic themes of those who want to cling onto science…

wonderful perpetuation of abuse, exploitation, violence and sanity. gaslighting galore. willem dafoes monologues were fantastic. their dynamic was incredible and the shift in said dynamic was even better ive never seen something like this before it was so real and broke their roles as actors in a meta sense

This setting of India’s corruption and the discrimination of the Hijra community + other classes adds so much to the action thriller genre this movie falls under. i also think it raises good questions about who gets to declare the end of violent cycles, when violence is necessary, who gets to push your head into a gas stove and smash beer on it causing a fire to incinerate your face, etc etc
