I was really looking forward to this but I didn't really enjoy it. Production design was all great and I loved the creepers, but I thought the film was really messy and was pretty bored by the end. Most of the cast did a good job, Pattinson was good as always, but I thought Ruffalo's Trumpian performance was awful. Didn't think the dialogue was any good either. A solid century of monster movies and that shot of the big ant gnawing on a human ribcage has got to be one of the best moments ever. This was a lot of fun with strong characters. All the stuff in the desert was great, but the grand finale falls a bit flat.

God as a big, writhing, interdimensional mass of leeches that really, really wants its loyalists to commit mass violence. Found this much scarier than Noroi. Truly fucking alarming score. Very “literary” in a weird way, and genuinely shocking when it takes a hard turn towards real life horrors. Loved Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s small role, that was a nice surprise.

The grim and gritty take on Batman has been the go-to for years now, so this super emo take exists in a world where you can basically open the movie with Riddler bludgeoning a guy's head in. It's cool to finally see a focus on detective work in a Batman movie, I think the plot was interesting and it touched on Real World Topics in some not-totally-insufferable ways. It's also cool that they're not doing that steampunk anachronistic Gotham bullshit,…
