Leo great as selfish American fuckboy who thinks real deep thoughts about society and humanity and the depths of human darkness, especially when he's called out and forced to face the consequences of his own actions.

Singin' in the Rain 1952
One is tempted to say, “They don’t make movies like this anymore,” but they didn’t really then, either. For all its use of already-established songs, tweak of the An American In Paris fantasy sequence, familiar plot line, and winks to stars and iconography of an earlier era, the alchemy HERE is one of a kind.

Film adaptation of the Broadway adaptation of the Al Capp comic strip. Never read the comic, but holy hell is this film a trip, a biting critique of capitalism, Confederate mythologizing, nuclear war, government values, tradition, and the overall American way of life. Colorful sets and costumes, bouncy musical numbers, playing-to-the-balcony performances make the disdain for its characters all the more surreal. There's black magic, beefcake, and a character named Appassionata Von Climax. Get through the opening number, for insane riches await.
