I mean this was phenomenal. Incredible acting, very funny, and just so enjoyable. Very easy to get into and though it’s long and the plot gets far-fetched it is so easy to root for most of the characters and keeps your attention. A Real Pain 2024
This was good, tight, funny, smart, but so fucking weird. Culkin’s character gave me anxiety unlike anyone I’d watched in a while and found his crude, roller-coaster outburst of emotions to be annoying, cringey, and eye-rolling. He certainly is an interesting character, and the juxtaposition between him and Jesse Eisenberg’s character is incredibly well-written and well-acted and creates interesting conflict just by their contrasting personalities, so I understand the nominations. However, the cringe wasn’t for me, and the ending left me scratching my head and underwhelmed.
