  Truly magical.

  To lovingly craft such a wonderfully wholesome, sweet, heartfelt story for a generation of youngsters (myself at the time for instance - 12 upon the movie's initial release - now fully grown adults) who'd be inspired by the earnest poignancy of its thematic messaging (celebrating individuality & companionship, capturing the real loneliness of defiantly warring against conventionality in a world which shuns those who stray from the set path life seemingly establishes for us, cherishing those beautiful kindred spirits…

  I'm in two minds about this one & have sat with it for quite a while - which is ironically the point the film may be (theoretically?) attempting to emphasize - capturing the dichotomy of Emilia's inner conflict; the woman she's steadfastly trying to be (not that I'm discrediting the validity of her gender identity by describing her authentic expression of self as "trying" etc. in reaffirmation - simply recognising she's got a very distinct idea of what "womanhood"…
