    The Void expertly hails back to the films of John Carpenter while still maintaining a sense of dreadful identity, all on a inspirationally-small budget. Its major downfall, however, is a rushed script that requires a Wikipedia browsing to understand what's going on. It also perhaps blows its load a little too early instead of letting the tension build naturally.

    The Post finds Steven Spielberg sitting comfortably and confidently in top form, a genuinely good film thanks to its tight script, talented cast, and John William's typically high caliber of music.
