Black Narcissus 1947
Enjoyed a lot. Everyone is right that it is visually striking to watch. I think it's a bit lazy to see the film as a mid-century expression of newfound intrigue and acceptance regarding lust. Of course the sisters' lust is part of the film, but to see it as the point of the film is such a depressing, secular way to understand the movie! It's about whether the monastic way of life is a good one, and whether to cling to its strictures against consumption and excess in the world modernity made.
