Seven years after superb Shin Godzilla we got another Godzilla movie. "Minus one" as creators say refers to Japan levelled during the Second World War. Then Godzilla comes and takes the state of affairs from the zero level to minus one. Another explanation is that G-1 takes place before the 1954 original - the plot is spread over the years 1945-47.
