There's a lot to like about Anora, chiefly the performances of Mikey Madison and Yura Borisov. Some very good blocking and cinematography too, despite the odd-looking gate weave. The first hour of the film is praise-worthy, and it maintains an uncomfortable atmosphere for most of the runtime. The movie could be crudely described as a grittier, modernized take on Pretty Woman with a dash of Uncut Gems for flavour.
However, the film started to lose me somewhat at the mid-point.…
