There's a lot to like about Anora, chiefly the performances of Mikey Madison and Yura Borisov. Some very good blocking and cinematography too, despite the odd-looking gate weave. The first hour of the film is praise-worthy, and it maintains an uncomfortable atmosphere for most of the runtime. The movie could be crudely described as a grittier, modernized take on Pretty Woman with a dash of Uncut Gems for flavour.

Disappointed... I was very excited for this but literally struggled to see what was happening. Most of Monkey Man looks like someone was told to "dirty up the frame" and did so without clear intent. It's out of focus, constantly cutting, shakycam-filled, and has an inconsistent framerate for some reason. And I don't mean 48-24, I mean it looks like it was retimed at points - poorly.
