Throughout watching Babylon, I couldn't help but think about (and have my experience enriched by) the meta-narrative of Damien Chazelle.

Chazelle started out in the film industry as a fresh, young face, with a degree of talent that was undeniable. Whiplash and La La Land were huge critical and commercial successes, and La La Land in particular celebrated, and in turn contributed to the cultural appreciation of movie magic.

It’s staggering and heartbreaking the lengths the human mind will go to to deny itself happiness. Naomi Scott is great, and Parker Finn definitely leveled up visually, but I think the actual scares weren’t quite up to the level of the first one. For me, I’d say they’re pretty much a toss-up as far as my enjoyment of them.

I’m not gonna lie, I watched Unbreakable because I wanted to watch Split, and I wanted to watch Split just to watch Anya Taylor-Joy for two hours.

I’m a fan of The Queen’s Gambit, and also a male. Sue me.

Behind the Try: A Try Guys Documentary

It’s hard for me to watch this with any kind of objectivity, because the Try Guys feel like my friends, and this is just us learning more about them and this moment in their lives. That said, I really enjoyed watching this!
