I think the bad thing about American filmaking is that the decisions are made by too many individuals and the results especially on series are chaotic. Too many subplots that are not related to the the main plot and lead to nowhere, twists for the sake of the twist, shallow humor and my favorite thing, everything has to be explained to the viewer via dialogue, tell don't show at its best.
