    I loved Jesse EIsenberg's wholesome character and the seductively warm tones of this movie. But the infatuation kind of went away when confronted with the ending of the film. It's a contrived resolution which completely misses the caution in its tale. What you think is a charmingly broken down metaphor of a corrupt power system devolves into good vs. evil within that same system.

    A work with a theme that doesn't simply mirror social convention, but rather transcends it and presents, visually, its complex relationships with other vicissitudes of life, while still being incredibly contained. I love the lack of explanation in such apparent exaggeration. Great idea for a short film

    Even after watching Blade Runner 2049 and Dune: Part Two, I think Incendies is Villeneuve's most photographic movie. It was so painting like that I thought I was seeing a Russian film. The pacing was perfect for me because it forced me to feel the devastation of a tightly woven pain in a heroic woman's journey in a war that operates directly against her desire: being one.

    There is a comprehensive review on this film that greatly changed my opinion on it. Here's the link because I don't think I should mimic it. Ironically, if the murderer of Pasolini had truly believed he rid the world of a monster, he has done exactly what Pasolini had criticized us for not doing in Salò. I'm not sure if this is poetic justice or an unfortunate misunderstanding.
