    I don't know why, but I didn't expect such a beautiful cinematography and masterful directing from Egypt. Every shot is exquisite af. So much so that the cinematography is undeterred by the mostly chaotic set designs which would otherwise throw off lesser executions. It kind of has the look of Incendies but turned up to a 100. I pleasantly enjoyed this

    I was overtly excited when I realized the plot was a twisted take on the moral narrative of 12 Angry Men. But the cat-and-mouse game took too much of an unnecessary time for any intriguing ethical quarrels to take place. Honestly speaking, the lack of good dialogue is immensely notable once you realize where this movie gets its foundation. Good premise that I wish could have led somewhere. Overall, a decently average movie

    Even after watching Blade Runner 2049 and Dune: Part Two, I think Incendies is Villeneuve's most photographic movie. It was so painting like that I thought I was seeing a Russian film. The pacing was perfect for me because it forced me to feel the devastation of a tightly woven pain in a heroic woman's journey in a war that operates directly against her desire: being one.

It just dances around so smugly at how much of an incredible satire it is about the capitalist idealized image of a “successful” (corporate) man. It’s a satire, but not a parody? Like, I find parodies to be devaluated versions of what they’re parodying, and so they lack the nuance for any meaningful discourse. Satires, on the other hand, are carefully crafted parodies where the joke…
