Blue Jean 2022
beautiful watch and such an impressive debut from the director georgia oakley. very cozy and engrossing at the same time.
every other lgbt movie's "gay bar scene with blue and red lighting" wishes it was doing what this film is doing.
the characters and relationships all felt very real and lived-in. jean's gf viv was so spot-on and seemed to jump off the screen. the costuming was perfect. 16mm was such a great choice to tell this story.

he77 yeah brotherrrrr! this wrecked me. 10/10 recommend. rating 3.5 for narrative reasons but the acting and craft in this is just divine. have been thinking about it for days since I saw it last week.
would strongly recommend polygon's discussion review between 2 contributors. they really get into it and bring up things I didn't see in any other coverage of the film.

an utterly unromantic film about an unromantic experience. super well done. however i wish the english title had the same connotation as the french one. "days of glory" vs. an almost-slur. the english title could have at least indicated that there's no glory about it

A+ depiction of anxieties about love in a digital, post-post-modern world (that is, we lust after the old-fashioned romance and recognize that leaning into our desires for aesthetic and spiritual meaning can actually be liberating rather than hedonistic). B- pacing and structure, including a really weak third act that contrasts with the quiet thrill of the rest of the film.
