Flow 2024
Wow. Flow was one of those films that just sneaks up on you. I went in with zero expectations and left completely mesmerized. Without a single word of dialogue, it manages to tell such a rich, emotional story,one that feels universal, almost ata primal level. The animation is stunning, the atmosphere is hypnotic, and the storytelling is so fluid (no pun intended) that you don’t even realize how deep you’ve gone until it’s over.

In the film’s efforts to separate not just the art from the artist (Dahl), but the art from the very art it’s evoking, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, ironically, it feels less like a work of imagination than a safe and poor imitation of the great works of art and innovation that came before it.
