The Host 2006
The Host probably plays to viewers many different ways. Some might be more affected by the existential dread and fear generated by its deformed, radioactive sea monster. Others may take more from its heartwarming, and ultimately tragic, examination of the archetypal South Korean family. I laughed too hard at its ramming of U.S. foreign policy, and governmental and media responses at-large to disasters. When the Park family hysterically weeps for their kidnapped daughter, Hyun-seo, I was crying with joy.
