  “I’m your new mother.” Not something an imaginative, grieving boy like Mahito wants to hear. 

  What follows is astonishing. 

  Perhaps the heron swallowed an ugly man, the pregnancy was a test, the story was a dream was to teach him a lesson, the birds were not to be trusted, and perhaps the world was from a bloodline rock. Make sense?
