The most accurate depictions of America, seemingly always come from outside of here: Paris, Texas, Strozek, and now, American Honey (as if the "now" implies that this film just came out, when it's already pushing a decade-- digress).

Anyway, I just love when the veil gets a lift. The American Dream™ is demystified, or at least, accompanied by a heavy tongue-in-cheek. I think Arnold does this so well here; the plot takes a backseat, non-actors take the stage, and we…

Best thing I’ve seen from ‘24 by a country mile (or should I say kilometer?). Andrea Arnold just knows how to capture humanity, and now, adding a surreal layer; of adolescent dreams of escapism, out of necessity, as protection— so poetic, so tender.

Leaving the theater was akin to the moment when a meditation session ends. You begin to open your eyes with a soft gaze to a newfound clarity of calm. Feeling more rooted to the world around, senses heightened, peace and contentedness. The child-like lens beckons, the things you’d normally glance past come full frame.

This is one I’ll be returning to time & again. I think it’s Wim’s best work since the ‘80’s, even despite not having Robby Müller around to…
