A film that helplessly reminds you the everyday shit you saw in your life… the people who have been left behind…the only hope / warm moment in the film might be the last scene where passengers start to gather to play 踢键子 in the cold winter night….

Genius piece. Watched it without knowing anything about the film and I’m so glad I did it…narrated around 3 people’s perspectives and the editing makes the stories so interconnected and surprising: from a bad teacher story, to a bad kids story, finally to a pure story between the two bullied boys. The scenes where they hid in an abandoned train cabin are just so natural and beautiful. “I like someone. I can’t tell anyone, so I lied.” How can liking someone make you a 怪物?The monster is all the prejudice. I wish all kids don’t have to feel ashamed of anything they want to be.

The teahouse is absolute a public space: always opens its door to the city, to the extent that it’s almost a city living room. Also, standing in the flood of the transition from the old  dynasty to a brand new country, it’s fate…
