I'm all for anti-authoritarian sentiments at this moment. I'm also for movies that don't nearly put me to sleep!

I don't know, this wasn't teeeeeerrible? But it wasn't good, either.

So much of this just doesn't work in live action. The dwarves that look like they came straight out of that Tintin movie from over a decade ago are one thing; their CGI isn't bad so much as it aesthetically clashes with the live action stuff. But it's the pacing…

Finally, an aughts comedy movie for theater kids!

...I wasn't there for this, so I have no nostalgia for it. I'm also not a theater kid! There's something so brazenly stupid about this premise that it's almost admirable. I didn't really care for the dramatic elements of this, the characters felt too thinly sketched, and the satire was too boilerplate and obvious to leave a lasting impression. I'll give Hamlet 2 props for being sincere and committing to the bit enough to have musical numbers in the film itself, but otherwise, this just didn't do it for me.

A local theater was showing this a day early, so I said "Why the fuck not?" and went to see it with my father. I was planning on seeing this on my birthday (the 27th, a day after it officially releases in most theaters), but eh, whatever.

This is the only Tarantino film I've seen besides Pulp Fiction (believe me, I've been meaning to get around to seeing his other films for a long ass time now), and I can…

Shocked that it's taken me this long to see this! Of the three power fantasy movies that I've seen recently, this was uncharacteristically the best. I can't speak to the subtext or how the subject matter makes or breaks this movie; I read that side of Letterboxd, I do not participate in it. What I can speak of, however, is just how much fun I had with this. Django Unchained was a blast from start to finish. I thought the…
