  Rewatching in the wake of the 2024 NVIDIA keynote 

  Honestly I think people don’t like this film, not because it’s shallow or has a simple plot, but because it doesn’t take a moral stance on AI. There are so many influences here: Asimov, Lucas, Scott, Card, Herbert, Otomo, Clarke, Shelley, etc., a hodgepodge of sci-fi near-futurism that is both blatantly ripping off creative masters and maintaining its own identity simultaneously.
