I am not a giant silent film person. Of course they’re inherently cinematic and often the photography still looks beautiful. I do often feel like something is lost when we can’t directly hear the characters speak for themselves, communications are boiled down to body language and the most basic summation of what they said. I am starting a new thing trying to occasionally watch the oldest film on my list, because I know otherwise I’d never choose something like this…
