The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974
anthology film archives, 50 year old 35mm print, terrifying noise set in pitch black with just two red lightbulbs, only one working projector so we had to take 4 minute breaks every 20 (last one included some acoustic noise to really freak everyone out)… what a way to watch this for the first time.

highly enjoyable watch and very deserving of attention. the tying in of his work, books and screenplay, with the overall movie and the endings was executed extremely well. puts a mirror in front of the audience to consider the the balance between black art and art by a black person and asks if we’re really owed a particular type of story. jeffrey wright and sterling k brown shone, but i don’t think the rest of the cast was given enough space which i’d view as a weakness, especially given the abrupt ending
