  I am quite familiar with the poem on which this film is based, having written an essay or two on it. All I or any other Middle English romance fans wanted was an adaptation that stayed true to the source material. This film decided to cast the original story into the fire and go for a more hipster-friendly, Indie, confusing mess. Half the scenes left me scratching my head and wondering what the hell was going on. It also left out some of the most important elements and scenes. I would have given it a 0/5 if it wasn’t for Dev Patel trying his best.

  If you’re looking for an Indiana Jones film that’s on the same level as Raiders of the Lost Ark… give up! It ain’t gonna happen! 
  If you’re looking for a fun (and very different) addition to the franchise, then watch this one. It goes where the franchise hasn’t gone before and does so with greater care than the Star Wars sequels. Also, did I mention it is fun? My only complaint is that it could have used some more Antonio Banderas… but let’s be honest, what movie doesn’t?!

Following
