Never enjoyed the start of a movie so much, and the ending so little. Cast and premise are terrific, with the plot bouncing between hilarious and “oh shit” right from the jump. The last 30 minutes positively drags and struggles to connect a deeper meaning in a movie that doesn’t need it.

When Orlok says “I am an appetite” that is the key to his character. It’s not that he doesn’t realize he’ll die when the sun rises. Because he IS his desire, it doesn’t matter what happens after he fulfills it.
Ellen’s defining characteristic is her shame, and it ultimately will always destroy her - but she turns it into something noble and sacrifices herself to save the others.
