Things overheard during the intermission for The Brutalist:

“Do you think this is based on a real story?”
“Interesting movie, lots of really good images”
“This movie has a 97% on rotten tomatoes”
“Did Felicity Jones get a nomination because of her voice over?”

Things overheard after the ending of the Brutalist:

    “You’re kidding me?”
“Wow, so this all really happened”
“Nominated for 10 Oscar’s? Including Best Director?”

Was really locked into this when it was going for its massive sweeping musical numbers and less so when it was lingering on the family drama of it all. But there really are like three or four amazing musical numbers here. (She’s the One likely my fav)

I bumped a little bit on how effects heavy this was a bit, I never really believed what I was seeing was really tangible or real, but again we’re talking about a movie starring a monkey Robbie Williams so I’m probably talking out my ass there.

Regardless I was overall pretty taken by this. Pretty great!

“I was fine, until I read your fucking book! It stirred shit up, you know? It reminded me how genuinely romantic I was, how I had so much hope in things, and now it's like, I don't believe in anything that relates to love. I don't feel things for people anymore. In a way, I put all my romanticism into that one night, and I was never able to feel all this again. Like, somehow this night took things away…

Only really watchable for approximately ten of its one hundred and fifteen (interminable) minutes. You know the scene I’m talking about.

Apart from that, and a pretty good Whoopi Goldberg this is almost entirely poppycock! What the hell!

i don’t think I’ve ever just broke the fuck down after the closing shot of a movie until now.

Baker operating in a mode he’s never tapped before, between the extended montage magic of the first hour to the madcap slapstick 80s genre movie all-in-one-night bender of the second, it’s electric.

Madison of course, is a star, but it was great to see Karren Karagulian get such a great supporting part, and Yora Borisov damn near steals the entire movie.

Sneakily crept up on me as well, ending hit hard, been thinking about it for hours.
