The Boy and the Heron 2023
There is no director in the world like Miyazaki.
Eccentric, heavy, fun. The visuals were absolutely mad, top tier stuff in there. It was a bit convoluted in English (I watched the dub!), so I’d be keen to see it in Japanese to see if it’s more sensible with subtitles. Leave the World Behind 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Watched this one without having seen the trailer, zero knowledge of what I was getting myself into. Julia Roberts isn’t my favourite, but Ethan Hawke and Kevin Bacon? Icons. Soooo, here’s my very small review:
WARNING : SPOILERS(?) but not really.
The movie itself wasn’t terrible by any means. To say it’s mid would be pretty spot on. I wish the characters were more likeable, and that the ending would have provided some sort of closure and a bit more context. It’s not without its flaws, but I don’t feel like I wasted my time watching it.

The turtles were great of course - less one dimensional than some previous iterations and very much young teenage turtles instead of what felt like 16-17 year olds in other media.
BUT THE SECONDARY MUTANTS
DEAR LORDT
Anyhow it was super fun and the art style is mad and I thoroughly enjoyed thank you.

Skinamarink 2022
Yeah alright. This can’t really be described as a film so much as something you should experience. Isolate yourself in a dark room, deprive yourself of whatever senses you can, and just immerse yourself into the movie and that’s when it’ll do it’s job.
Essentially, you watch from the perspective of two small children. All the doors and windows in their home have disappeared, and there is an entity in the house with them, guiding them throughout. It feels like…
