    ineptitude
    noun

    Definition:
    Lack of skill or ability.

    Example:
"If Kirk van Houten had to draw ineptitude he would draw it in the shape of this movie."

Seriously, though, even the jump scares fall completely flat and those are really hard to mess up, but they sure managed it. There were multiple instances where I wasn't sure if we switched to the footage of the protagonist's equipment or if the camerawork really was that shoddy (hint: it was the…

I just adore Autumn Reeser. Ever since her character Taylor Townsend on The O.C. laid eyes on Ryan and said "Yep, gonna have a piece of that." (probably paraphrasing here) I've been low-key in love. So even though this movie was rather unremarkable and I enjoyed her two previous Christmas movies a bit more, at least her presence here elevated the whole affair some.

Honestly, parodying something that is already slightly ridiculous (like reality TV competitions) by making them about 12% more ridiculous was never funny to me. Just eye-roll after eye-roll.

The rest of the plot is even more uninspired and insipid. And to top it all off, this Christmas movie commits the cardinal sin of really just happening sort of close to Christmas, while being not even remotely, dare I say it, christmassy. Seriously, at least decorate a tree or go ice-skating or watch "Die Hard" at some point, is that so hard?

Well, that was pleasant. Setting and premise set it apart a bit from the usual fare. No small town, dead parents or Christmas scrooge in sight. No one even had to give up their soul-crushing high-powered business job to be with the one they love in the end. Neat.

Doesn't reinvent the wheel and not a whole lot is happening, but if you judge these movies by the same standards as everything else on here you're just being silly. Ryan…
