Zeynephile like a cinephile but with a bad wordplay on my name & less movie knowledge compared to a real cinephile
Wow. I have no words other than horrifying. We have a saying, "İnsanı yaşat ki devlet yaşasın" : Make the people live so that the state can live. Stalin chose the opposite. This is simply evil, and a genocide.
One problem I had with this documentary was a map they used. While showing the borders of the USSR, other parts caught my attention. Greece seemed to own all of Thrace & Cyprus. Unless I'm missing something, this is completely unhistorical. Eastern Thrace belongs (and at the time also belonged) to Turkey and Cyprus was under British control. That map is highly false.
Very good writing although I thought the ending could have been better. But still, keep up the good work!!
I don't know how to rate this film. I saw that some of the cast members like Yura Borisov starred in Russian propaganda films and continue to do so. This leaves a bitter taste. I also saw some questionable things about the director Sean Baker regarding his social media use. And I definitely think that intimacy coordinators should be mandatory. All around a great movie that kept me thinking about it hours after finishing it. The acting is phenomenal, especially Charles Melton & Natalie Portman shone.
Natalie Portman's character reminded me of SNL's The Actress sketch with Emma Stone. Has anyone else had the same vibe?
I loved the symbolism although some of them were maybe too on the nose. Such as:
