    Kubrik is cinematic brilliance.

    A film about the horror of America, the horror of war, the horror of man! At its core, that is Kubrik’s strength: his stories are about being human. The duality of structure and forced opposition, the brutal carnage of primal ancestry. The guise of believing we are more evolved than we actually are.

    This was a very strong film. Every shot was brilliant. The color work and staging just. Magnifique. Cinema is an art that reflects the nature of humanity, and this film just goes to show how intimately Stanley Kubrik understands that philosophy. Stellar.

Which of fucking course I did because there is NO world where you have a cast including Denzel and Ethan Hawke and produce a flop. Yet somehow, Antoine Fuqua, whom I absolutely love, made what I take to be the most unenthralling Western I’ve ever seen.
