  Kurosawa’s 7th feature. 

  His own version of Bicycle Thieves, according to him. This is fairly similar, but I feel like Stray Dog is personally much closer. 

  I really liked this movie, a lot more than I thought I would. I really liked the tone struck by two very well written leading characters. “It’s a wonderful Sunday!   Absolutely bonkers film. One I both loved and kinda didn’t at the same time. It’s intellectually unfathomable, and it’s cock has too much girth and heft for me to be able to wrap my hand around it. It’s kinda of intentionally bad, but at the same time equally brilliant technically and directionally. It’s a tough load to swallow for sure. One I can’t really emotionally empathize with, but I’m so down with intellectually. I was kind of lost for half of it too. But overall, this is the absolute definition of art. So complex, hand crafted, divisive.
