  Once again, I’m struck by Yang’s framing—through windows, doorways, and parted curtains—that permit the viewer a glimpse into their fragile lives, and particularly that of childhood and the tangibility of their problems. The framing also allows Yang to play with light (and dark) to great thematic effect, with high-contrast scenes of light spilling into the cavernous gloom of a dark warehouse, or the glow of a warm living room from the pouring rain outside.
