Hell House LLC 2015
I’ve wanted to see this since I heard the Ruined episode about it, and boy, did it live up to the hype. Found footage is easy to get wrong, but man, there’s just nothing like it when it’s done well. Amateur acting and cheap practical effects are more of a feature than a detriment to the experience, and as a result, this film transcends the sum of its parts.

Whisper of the Heart 1995
An absolutely beautiful film. 100% gorgeous. It’s a travesty that Yoshifumi Kondō passed before he could direct another one. This movie is so cozy, the conflicts so small, a microcosm of human experience perfectly captured in two dimensions. Plus the background details, ugh, I could spend an hour just talking about the frickin backgrounds!
