Premise: Adar x Celebrimbor / silverscars canon divergence!AU. Political marriage trope. Celebrimbor flees Eregion after discovering that Annatar is not who he claims to be. This lands him in Adar's camp. The uruk proposes an unconventional solution to both of their problems - a political marriage. Celebrimbor accepts. Neither of them expect this to change the course of Middle-earth's history...or for them both to develop genuine feelings for each other in the process.

What started out as a one-shot based on my own little idea under one of my silverscars edits grew into a full-fledged multi-part fanfic when I couldn't stop writing. I wrote the entirety of the main fic (about 42k words) in 2.5 weeks as a result.

In Convenience - Chapter 5, part 1

Adar x Celebrimbor (silverscars) political marriage to marriage of love AU, post story snippet 5, part 1. The day of the peace and wedding festivities has arrived. Celebrimbor and Adar have a rushed morning, after which Celebrimbor needs to face questions from Elrond.

Here is it is, part 1 (of 4) of Chapter 5. This chapter starts with some humor and fluff for our lovebirds, and then follows multiple instances of Celebrimbor (and later on Adar) having interactions with a multitude of characters. After these two being mostly by themselves for a few chapters, it was a fun change, and I tried to pick up some hints and points from earlier in the story to bring back as well. I hope you lovely people like it! <3

The day of the peace celebrations began just as Celebrimbor had feared they would โ€“ that being, they began unexpectedly early and abruptly.

#there is a noodle incident mentioned in here that *will* be explored in the 5+1 collection that I will post after chapter 6! OMG OKAY THIS IS GOLD. The pallas cat at my local zoo apparently does this, and thereโ€™s a little sort of kid-level viewing window into its habitat, and the keeper in that area told me that the pallas cat likes to hide beneath the window. So when the kids press their faces up to the glass, searching the exhibit for the animal, the pallas cat suddenly pops up directly in front of their faces and scares the ever-loving shit out of them. Pallas cat: recreationally scares children. Tell your friends.

Summary:

It is the morning after concluding the peace treaty between Elves and Uruks, outside of Ost-in-Edhil. Celebrimbor pulls Adar's tunic on, instead of his own robes, by mistake in the dawn's faint light. He decides to complete the outfit, and goes, dressed as Adar, to address the Uruks in camp.

So um...I did a Sauron meme and went the extra mile to (shoddily) put glasses on him and hand him a book in that meme. The resulting image was hilarious (to me at least!), but I couldn't help but imagine Adar with the same sort of look, soooo...

...you didn't think I was going to leave it at just *one* variation of this edit, did you? Papadar has his morning newspaper and he does *not* want to be disturbed by reading it. Him looking like this either means there was a headline that unsettled him ("Rumors of Powerful Sorcerer's Return Reach Mordor - Truth or Fiction?"), or one of the kids said or did something that demands immediate scrutiny.

Adar has been checking the news. "There are no news reports on any returned sorcerer arriving at Eregion. Did you get that off of social media or what is your source, Halbrand?" Or maybe he's checking social media and very confused at some of the DMs he's been getting? Did his spies send him photographic evidence of the goings-on around Mordor? Did Gal send him a message going "Hey that human I was last seen with is full of sh*t don't trust him"?

...or is this just a dad once again finding himself in a fight with technology and losing. Badly. And being too proud to ask on whether or not he has accidentally deleted the internet?

This might be my favorite of the bunch tbh. Knitting!Adar? Yes please! He needs to keep his hands busy during downtime, now that he is spending a lot of his day sitting and listening to the uruk and their concerns. Like this, he can at least help them with making them new clothes, or baby blankets for the newborns.

...while also glaring at people judgementally if they raise an eyebrow at his efforts. He can also use these knitting needles as weapons and he is not afraid to do so.
