Okay so I get that demigods aren’t supposed to have cell phones, but I made an exception because I adore this prompt! I hope you like it, @jessiekitty123 , sorry for the wait!
Clueless
Nico didn’t understand why Will was acting so strange. I mean, Instagram had been his idea, not Nico’s.
So as they sat on the large, comfortable couch in the Big House, Nico tried to ignore Will’s breath on his neck as he peered over his shoulder and into Nico’s phone. Nico scrolled through his comments uncomfortably.
“How many comments did your most recent selfie get?” Will asked nonchalantly.
“Um…” Nico shifted. “46.”
Will exhaled loudly through his nostrils and sat back in his seat.
“What?” Nico’s voice got defensive. “Is that bad?”
Will rolled his eyes. “Yes, Nico. That’s terrible.” Nico couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic. He shrugged, and the two went back to scrolling on their phones in silence.
After a while, Nico stared at a comment, a perplexed expression making its way onto his face. “Hey Will?”
Will stiffened. “Who wants to know?”
“Some girl named ellison3002.” Nico shrugged. “She asked if I had one.”
“No, a bell pepper tree. Yes, a bae, you dolt!”
Will frowned. “Do bell peppers grow on trees?”
“Answer my question! What’s a bae?”
“She’s asking if…you…own a hairbrush.”
“A hairbrush?” Nico sneered.
“Yeah!” Will sounded more sure of himself. “She’s probably making fun of your hair. You should really brush it sometime.” Will stuck his nose in his phone and offered no further conversation.
Nico just rolled his eyes and continued looking through his page. A blush creeped its way onto his face as he noticed what people were commenting on his pictures. Calling him cute, mysterious, endearing…
Did others really see him that way?
An angry, muttering Will jolted Nico out of his thoughts. Nico couldn’t hear all of it, but he caught little snippets such as “…46 comments. Ridiculous. More than I have altogether.” and “…900 followers?! Now he’s probably just buying them!”
Suddenly it clicked in Nico’s mind, the reason Will was so irritated.
Will was angry because Nico’s pictures were receiving more likes than his, and Will had had his Instagram much longer than Nico. Will was jealous because he wasn’t getting as many flattering comments, even though he’d had his Instagram for a while now.
Nico suppressed a grin. Time to have some fun.
“Hey Will,” Nico said casually. “This girl says I have the prettiest eyes she’s ever seen.”
“How nice.” Will muttered.
“And this one says my smile is like seeing stars.” Nico fake sighed contentedly. He could see Will scowl into his phone. Nico swallowed back a snicker.
“Paisley397 wants my number.”
“Yup. And annaleigh3621 says that my hair is the color of the sky at night.”
“And this girl says…” Nico frowned and squinted at his phone, sure he’d read that comment wrong. “I’d tap that?”
Will snapped his head in Nico’s direction and gave him an angry, incredulous look. “Who said that?”
Nico leaned away from Will in surprise. Geez, what was that about?
"Does it matter?” Nico sighed in exasperation and leaned back into the couch. “Just tell me what it means!”
“Tell me who said it first!”
“Some girl named winnow462.” Nico snapped. “Now tell me!”
Will paused for a long moment. “It means she wants to hit you.”
“Yup.” Will didn’t meet Nico’s eyes, and somehow, Nico could tell he was lying. Why would someone leave a comment saying they want to hit him?
“I never would have got Instagram if I knew it would make you so jealous.” Nico scowled. “Seriously. They’re just comments! You don’t need to, like, lie to me and wallow in envy.” Nico said, throwing his phone on the couch cushion. “I mean, I get that you’re mad cause my pictures are getting more likes and comments than yours, but it’s probably just because your account is private and mine isn’t.”
Will stared at him. His face was expressionless. “You think I’m jealous just because you’re getting more likes and comments?”
Nico was starting to get uncomfortable. “Um…yeah. Why else would you be so jealous?”
Will stared at him. He stared at him with the same passive, emotionless expression for about ten seconds. Nico was just getting up to leave out of pure awkwardness when Will spoke again.
"You may be a child of one of the big three, but you are by far the biggest idiot in the entire demigod population!” Will sneered.
He picked up Nico’s phone. Before Nico could protest, Will had typed something furiously fast, threw his phone down, and left the Big House whilst slamming the door on the way out.
A little nervously, Nico picked up his phone to see what Will had typed.
As he read it, Nico’s ears and cheeks went crimson. His mouth fell open. His eyes bulged out of their sockets. Will had tagged all the girls that had commented on his pictures and left three simple words for them to read;
