An Update

For a while now, I have been helping my friend Akram fundraise on here, trying to raise the money for him and his brother to leave Gaza and attend school abroad, and more recently to help his family rebuild their home that was destroyed by the bombing. A few days ago, however, Akram came to me with the news that he has decided to close his campaign. The slow progress and constant effort left him frustrated and hopeless of ever reaching his goal. However, the money that was donated still made a difference, and he will find another way to achieve his dreams.

The good news is that his sister, Laila @laylaayman-blog2, has given birth to her second child, to the joy of the whole family. He is named Mohammed after his martyred uncle.

Laila is still fundraising so that she can provide her infant son and young daughter with basic necessities. Please continue to support Akram and Laila's family by donating to and sharing this campaign.

Get to know Hashem's family

My name is Hashem from Gaza. I am 32 years old and my wife, Samar, is 27 years old. We have a child born in the eighth month of pregnancy. His mother was premature because of my wife's fear of war. My large family consists of 8 members: my father, mother, four male brothers and 2 females. My father died in the war due to a lack of medicine in hospitals as a result of the fierce war on Gaza.

My story began when we were displaced from our home in northern Gaza in mid-October 2023 after a letter threatening eviction, and then the house was targeted and destroyed. Between this Exodus and the current fifth Exodus there are many stories and sufferings.

We now live in plastic tents, which are thermal ovens, which are not suitable for living and do not provide the minimum necessities of life, in addition to the spread of epidemics and diseases, which puts our lives in danger.

Through this campaign, we are trying to collect enough money to meet our needs and get us out of the Gaza Strip safely. We ask you to stand by us and protect us from this severe danger.

Support and share🤍

best wishes:

Hashem alshawish

Plain text below the cut!

Ibrahim @aburakhiaibrahim currently lives with his parents in their destroyed house in Gaza. His parents are elderly and have chronic illnesses. Their GFM was created over a year ago (2 March 2024) and is just over a third of the way to the $30k CAD goal. It supports not only Ibrahim and his parents but a total of 28 members.

They already have difficulties accessing basic needs and the renewed war only makes their ordeals much worse. Please continue supporting the Aburakhia family.

URGENT!

The occupation has ordered the people of Rafah to evacuate the city. @aburakhiaibrahim and his family are among those affected, and they need support for transportation and other basic needs, especially since they would have to stay elsewhere yet again.

Ibrahim sent me these pictures to show the situation:

They have a Paypal account apart from the GFM linked above (with $11,877 raised, only 1 donation in the past 2 days).

Please continue supporting this family!

Unfortunately, nothing is the same anymore. I need your support in this difficult time we are living in, my friends.💔

Please help my little brother ibrahim @wolf-aid and his family survive in Gaza!!

Israel is bombing refugee camps again, and ibrahim's family only narrowly escaped a bombing recently. They have since moved camps and still need money for food, water, and other basic necessities to get them through. He is so young and your generosity and kindness have gotten him through the past year - please keep it up!!

if you can't donate to GFM directly, please send any amount to my cashapp and it will go to ibrahim and his family!! thank you!!!

thank you!!! <3333

The nightmare is back 💔😞!

This is how parents bid farewell to their martyred children in Gaza 😫!!
Please do what you can to stop this cruel war, help us with what you can to stop it, and if you cannot, please donate or pray to God for us to stop the war !

Donate for our children. Hunger is killing us from all sides, in addition to the ongoing bombing and killing 😣💔..

I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.

Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.

I'm a ridiculous human and genuinely couldn't sleep until I tried my hand at a better, more balanced list -- though of course, I have my own biases when it comes to what corners of this website I've lurked in over the years. For what it's worth, I did consult the last several Years In Review, while also drawing on the fact that I've been here for over a decade. But if there's anything that truly doesn't feel like it should have made the cut, blame my mutuals for putting it on my dash all the time.

(And apologies, but I couldn't seem to find Goncharov among the website's listings)

Case Description - Emergency 🚨😫

I wanted to tell you that while your children live their childhood and sleep peacefully, there are children who do not know the meaning of childhood and have not felt it since they were born, like my daughter Sally 💔.

I noticed that the older Sally got, the more afraid she became of the sound of missiles, shelling and explosions ( That is, it has not and will not get used to war and bombing ), to the point that last night when a house near our current displacement site was bombed, she ran to me very scared and all night she suffered from a severe fever, which, God forbid, would have made me lose her.
What I want to tell you is that even if we don't die from direct bombing, we die a thousand times from fear for our children, in addition to the extreme hunger and bitter cold that we suffer in the tents.
I ask for your kind help to save my life and the lives of my children from war, fear, hunger, destruction and displacement ..

Our campaign is verified and shared by: ✅@bilal-salah0@a-shade-of-blue @90-ghost ✅@dlxxv-vetted-donations and many other trusted supporters ..

The book opens with the story of Tom, who was an American Marine in the Vietnam War. After his platoon was ambushed, Tom went on a crime rampage, raping a Vietnamese woman, shooting a farmer, and murdering local children. Van der Kolk centers Tom’s torment as what matters. We are invited to step into his conundrum after his honorable discharge: “How can you face your sweetheart and tell her that you brutally raped a woman just like her, or watch your son take his first step when you are reminded of the child you murdered?” van der Kolk writes.
But wait a second, what about that Vietnamese woman or those children? Van der Kolk doesn’t even offer a throwaway condolence for the nonwhite victims or their families, who are treated as mere collateral damage.
[...]
For example, van der Kolk claims “traumatized children have fifty times the rate of asthma as their nontraumatized peers.” He footnotes a paper co-authored by Noll about the long-term impact of incest. That paper doesn’t contain the words “asthma,” “breathing,” or any related terms. Noll confirmed over email: “We’ve never published on asthma.”

Article is too gung ho about the benefits about CBT, but clearly this book is garbage on its own.
