After freezing it for several months, approximately four months, and after submitting the information required for the review process, GoFundMe closed the fundraising today. After it reached $117,000, it gained 39,000 and lost approximately $73,000.

hi everyone! Fidaa ( @fidaa-family2 ) has reached out to me and requested that I show the process for requesting a refund from GoFundMe. her campaign was suddenly deleted after being frozen (she posted about it here) and for some reason refunds are not being automatically issued as they should be when a campaign has been closed by GFM. in this situation, if you have donated to Fidaa's original GFM, you have to contact GFM support and request a refund.

searching "GoFundMe refund request" should take you to the appropriate page, but here are some screenshots from my phone showing where to go.

GFM will ask for the URL/link to the fundraiser you are requesting a refund from. you do not need the link in order to receive a refund. the title of Fidaa's original campaign was "Help Fidaa and her children". if you need to check for the exact amount you donated, I'd recommend looking through your email to confirm.

after submitting your request, you must reply to the confirmation email GFM sends you. otherwise they will not issue the refund. after this you might be contacted by a rep asking you to confirm again the fundraiser you are requesting a refund from. after this last confirmation, the GFM system should begin issuing your refund(s), and you'll see the money returned within 3-7 days.

once you get your refund, please send it back to Fidaa! she is currently fundraising through chuffed and P.ayP.al.

please share this! it is imperative that as many people who donated to Fidaa's original GFM see this as soon as possible. GFM does not alert you that a fundraiser you donated to has been removed unless they automatically issue you a refund. there is a chance people who donated to Fidaa are unaware her campaign was removed.

additionally, even if you were not a supporter of Fidaa's original fundraiser, please consider supporting her now if you are able- her campaign has been verified and she is the mother and sole provider of two young children.

Some of you may know that I was recently in Palestine.

While there, my resolve to do everything in my power to help only strengthened, and I came back wanting to check in on a few of the campaigns I had adopted. To my disappointment, a couple of them were frozen or reported, even though they had been tirelessly vetted and verified.

The worst part is that there are talks of a temporary ceasefire happening again, with the Rafah border crossing opening once more, and my friend Fidaa fears that after all of the hard work, she might not be able to get her two young children (a toddler and a baby) out. She is their sole provider right now.

So we have set up a temporary fundraiser for her on Chuffed, while we work to get her funds unsuspended (if we can). We have to act fast. Please know that two things are true: giving even a very small amount helps, and if you are unable to right now, spreading this campaign and getting more eyes on it helps.

The goal is $15,000 USD. We're starting this off at $285. Please help me get eyes on this.

I am Fidaa from Gaza. I am 29 years old. I stand before you as a person trying to preserve his family. I am married and a mother of two children, Sila, who is two years old, and a child named Muhammad Amr, 2 months old. I gave birth to him during the war and in very harsh conditions that no human being can bear. I moved from the hospital directly to the tent, and I cannot describe the extent of the suffering and difficulty of living in the tent🇵🇸💔💔

We try to live under miserable conditions in tents in Mawasi Khan Yunis, south of Gaza. It is difficult for me to find the words to describe what we face every day in Gaza. No food, no medicine, no clean drinking water, oppression, helplessness, psychological pressures, doubts, and daily trauma due to the loss of loved ones. In Gaza, it's not just hunger, disease and fear; Rather, it means actual death.

We have been forced to move more than 7 times, and my house has been completely destroyed, and I cannot provide enough milk, diapers, medicines, and vitamins for my children.💔🍉🇵🇸😭

Now, I find myself in this difficult situation, and I strongly and humbly ask for your help to save the lives of my family, especially my children, by getting us out of Gaza. Here is a picture of my friend Fidaa’s baby girl, Sila. Sila and her baby brother Muhammed are currently stuck in a situation so horrible that words struggle to describe it. 

Fidaa, (@fidaa-family2) the mother of these beautiful children, is a 29-year-old woman from Gaza who, during the war, was separated from her entire family and is currently being forced to take care of her two children, completely alone. 

Her children are both sick from the cold and the encroaching spread of diseases, and they are all in pain. She has been displaced with her children many, many times, each time having to dip into her precious evacuation funds to buy transportation. 

Every time she is displaced, she is forced to buy a new tent, which as we know costs $1,500… 

This makes her evacuation funds absolutely instrumental for her and her two small children’s survival, two children who I will now remind you are sick, hurting, and starving in a situation that nobody could have ever predicted. 

These conditions are absolutely catastrophic. They are apocalyptic. No child, no mother, no person should ever have to go through this. 

You can help. 

You can help by donating and sharing so that Fidaa is not forced to struggle any longer. All she hopes for is to get enough money to evacuate to Cairo so that she no longer is forced to rely on the black market for things as simple as food.
