It's really important to me that the woman who purposely broke the Florida bathroom law and was arrested, Marcy Rheintgen, is Catholic and had her rosary with her. I feel like many of both trans people and Catholics are under the impression that it's not possible to be both and you must give up one or the other, even though I know there are many of us. Anyone can be trans regardless of religion or whether their beliefs match those of most trans people. Obviously, trans people already disagree about all kinds of things and although we may think each other are wrong it doesn't make any of us not trans. Being trans also doesn't contradict any of the core beliefs or practices of Catholicism as much as many may say it's against God's will. Trans people can believe in God and the saints and celebrate mass as fully as any other Catholic. The fact that she had her rosary with her is especially significant as a particularly Catholic devotion and as prayer to our most holy saint who is a woman and is an example and intercessor for all of us but especially women including trans women.
