In the past three decades, feminists and critical theorists have discussed and argued the importance of deconstructing and problematising social science research methodology to question normalized hierarchies concerning the production of knowledge and the status of truth claims. Nevertheless, often, these ideas have remained theoretical propositions not embodied in research practices. In fact there is very little published discussion about the difficulties and limits of their practical application. In this paper, we introduce some interconnected reflections starting from two different but related experiences of embodying feminist activist research. Our aim is to emphasise the importance of attending to process, making mistakes and learning during fieldwork, as well as experimenting with personalized forms of analysis, such as the construction of narratives and the story-telling process.

This article addresses the questions and dilemmas that each of us has brought to the project. It traces their modulation, refinement and manifestation as they became part of a shared creative dynamic and thus subject to our personal experience and reflection thereon. The initial idea was to produce one text with multiple voices, yet considering our theoretical diversity, the
geographical distance between us and the short time at hand we realized this, for the moment, was a too ambitious project. Hence, as a tribute to the diversity of our perspectives and
reflecting the actual dilemma of seeking to ‘speak in one powerful voice’ while allowing heterogeneity, this article presents itself as a tentative pastiche of our four distinct yet overlapping and intersecting contributions.
To create a common basis for the writing process, we collected a pool of crucial questions that were then split up between us, following the idea that each of us would reflect upon the
editing process by way of exploring her particular questions. This reflection obviously cannot capture either the complexity or the entirety of the experience of co-editing and
producing the journal, it can only highlight some aspects of the contradictions, juxtapositions and intersections that emerged.

The aim of this article is to briefly examine the socially constructed meanings of politics and their effects on ‘women’s’ agency. In doing this, I consider the need for a collective feminist redefinition of politics. Initially I present the, sometimes
controversial but always interesting, suggestions from ‘Latin’ women activists who spoke with me while I conducted my PhD research. Following on from this, I suggest possible approaches to the practice of a feminist political psychology.

This paper provides an overview of critical work carried out in the field of psychology in Spain and Italy during the last three decades. Firstly we briefly present the anti-psychiatry movement in our countries. In a second moment we move on to discuss the way critical work in Italy and Spain, despite their different trajectories, have recently found another common referent in social movements and organised collective actions. Finally we shall argue that critical psychology in these contexts is part of wider transformations rather than a disciplinary topic of interest by its own.

Esta comunicación se desarrolla a partir de considerar que la definición de la violencia es una construcción social fundada en discursos ideológicos con los cuales la complicidad de disciplina psicológica ha sido muy fuerte. Estas metanarrativas se basan, entre otras cosas, en el mito de lo masculino como impulsivo, fuerte y violento frente a lo femenino como remisivo, pasivo y pacifista.
Partiendo del análisis deconstructivo de las recientes crónicas, en especifico sobre las torturas de las soldadas norte-americanas en Abu Ghraib, y de los re-acutizados debates en el movimiento feminista alrededor de este mito, se quiere evidenciar como el supuesto pacifismo innato de las mujeres, repropuesto por las pensadoras esencialistas, se constituye como obstáculo frente a la lucha contra las violencias de género. Por un lado, quita a las mujeres toda su agencia, victimizándolas e infantilizándolas, por otro, quita responsabilidad a la sociedad, transformando las experiencias de malos tratos en casos de excepcionalidad.
El reconocer que la violencia no es patrimonio innato de un sexo pero que, en nuestra sociedad heteropatriarcal, está profundamente generizada, nos permitiría, desarrollar prácticas y políticas integrales contra las violencias de genero, sean esta de tipo domestico, social o institucional.
Se considera que desde la psicología social crítica, comprometiéndose con las colectividades co-investigadoras y poniendo en práctica las enseñanzas metodológicas del trabajo de las epistemólogas feministas, se puede incidir en este sentido.

The fourth issue of Annual Review of Critical Psychology is hot off the print! A dedicated issue, on ‘Feminisms and Activisms’, it fosters a large international collection of articles as well as poetry, art work and interactive media, with contributions spanning the academic / activist divide in different national contexts including Brazil, Italy, South Africa, Greece, Denmark, Spain, Venezuela, Catalunya, Germany and the UK, in multiple, challenging and original ways. The production of the journal as a collaborative project is represented in the diversity of the editorial team - Barbara Biglia from Catalunya/Italy, Jude Clark from South Africa/UK, Johanna Motzkau from Germany /UK and Alexandra Zavos from Greece/UK - who have collated a wide range of resources to illustrate the many possible yet different discourses and practices available or claimed by and for feminist and critical social mobilizations.

This chapter discusses the difficult relationship between feminisms and psychology (and to some extent education) in the Spanish state. The first two sections are intended to offer some orientation to international readers with a brief genderised history of the Spanish state and of psychology. The third section is focused on the development of gender studies and gender “gaps,” followed by a discussion of the difference between using a gender perspective and having gender as an object of study. The fifth part of the chapter is an overview of some of the most important topics and researchers in the unrecognized area of gender/feminist psychology studies. The conclusion presents a short reflection on the interaction between praxis/theory and academic/social movements, topics that run through the entire chapter. The intention is to show some of the intersections, contradictions and possibilities present in our geopolitical context.

ienvenidas al estado de maravillosa sujeción! ¡Esperen, esperen, un momento!... ¿maravillosa decís?, ¿puede algo ser maravilloso cuando aprieta tanto? Y... esta sujeción ¿no tendrá algo que ver con los mandatos de género, con la inscripción a las clases sociales, con la invención de las razas, con la heterosexualidad obligada, con la diferencia y la otredad?

Pero... ¿hasta qué punto estas preguntas no son más que viejas quejas que no tienen sentido en nuestras actuales democracias? Efectivamente, habrá quien crea que en contextos que se autodefinen como paritarios ya no resulta necesario el análisis feminista. Sin embargo, ¿cómo interpretar entonces las cotidianas evidencias de violencias y discriminaciones de género?: ¿ignorándolas y tachándolas de un borrón?; ¿identificándolas como algo meramente individual, que le toca a cada persona según tenga más o menos suerte en la vida?; ¿considerándolas simplemente como simulación colectiva de hordas de feministas histéricas? Nos parece que en los actuales discursos, cuando se aborda la comprensión de las violencias de género, aparecen diversos lugares comunes que suelen desviar la mirada hacia los síntomas olvidando las raíces. Frente a ello, creemos importante dilucidar la estrecha relación de sujeciones y violencias con elementos de estratificación y poder social, reconociendo que no se trata de reductos del pasado sino parte de un doloroso presente.

Así, en este libro, a través de miradas feministas, intentamos abordar esta cuestión formulando interrogantes, cuestionando respuestas, poniendo a debate síntomas y raíces, desanudando sujeciones y finalmente abriendo espacios de comunicación para las subversiones. ¿Cómo? Juntando voces en un diálogo colectivo. Voces que narran las violencias ejercidas en la construcción de nuestra identidad generizada, de nuestros cuerpos, de nuestra sexualidad, de nuestro lugar en la historia, en los medios de comunicación, en la educación y en el poder. Voces que lejos de hablar desde la victimización e infantilización lo hacen desde el reconocimiento de la capacidad de agencia de las protagonistas. ¿Quieres entretejer tus miradas y tus palabras con las nuestras?
