The aim of this work was the evaluation of conductivity assessments for the monitoring and controlling the release study process of chlorhexidine and lidocaine hydrochloride from the ionic polyacrylic gel, applying different temperatures. According to performed measurements of release, the chlorhexidine, characterized by very low water solubility, is observed in the acceptor compartment in the amount of 2.0-3.0% and its level depends of the temperature. The amount of well soluble lidocaine hydrochloride released in parallel conditions was between 60 and 70%. Beyond, the assessments confirm the presence of a specific bond between the chlorhexidine imine groups and polyacrylic acid carboxylic groups. Presented method may be applied in the prediction of release rates, before actual release analysis, and may assure better evaluation of the systems.

Desiccation of plants during drought can be detrimental to agricultural production. The phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) reduces water loss by triggering stomatal pore closure in leaves, a process requiring ion-channel modulation by cytoplasmic proteins. Deletion of the Arabidopsis farnesyltransferase gene ERA1 or application of farnesyltransferase inhibitors resulted in ABA hypersensitivity of guard cell anion-channel activation and of stomatal closing. ERA1 was expressed in guard cells. Double-mutant analyses of era1 with the ABA-insensitive mutants abi1 and abi2 showed that era1 suppresses the ABA-insensitive phenotypes. Moreover, era1 plants exhibited a reduction in transpirational water loss during drought treatment.

Ficus carica Linn. (Moraceae) is commonly known as edible fig. The leaves, roots, fruits and latex of the plant are medicinally used in different diseases. The leaves are claimed to be effective in various inflammatory conditions like painful or swollen piles, insect sting and bites. However, there has been no report on anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity of F. carica leaves. Therefore the aim of this study was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity of F. carica leaves. Our study validated the traditional claim with pharmacological data. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity of the drug could be due to the presence of steroids and flavanoids, respectively, which are reported to be present in the drug. Furthermore, the anti-inflammatory activity of the drug could be due to its free radical scavenging activity. Further work is also required to isolate and characterise the active constituents responsible for the anti-inflammatory activities.

Strong oxidizers could be provisionally defined as compounds for which the standard redox potential exceeds 2.0 V in the NHE scale. Compounds which contain transition or post-transition metals at their unusually high positive oxidation states constitute one important family of strong oxidizers. Majority of such systems typically exhibit either diamagnetic or 'simple' paramagnetic properties down to very low temperatures. This is connected with the fact that highest oxidation states of metals are stabilized in fluoride environment and that binary high-valence metal fluorides form either molecular(OD) or low-dimensional (usually !D) crystals. The ternary and higher fluorides are usually OD in electronic sense leading again to low ordering temperatures. Untuk mendeteksi anion tidak diperlukan metode sistematik seperti pada kation. Anion dapat dipisahkan dalam golongan-golongan utama, bergantung pada kelarutan garam peraknya, garam kalsium atau bariumnya dan garam zinknya. Namun, ini hanya dianggap berguna untuk memberi indikasi dari keterbatasan pada metode ini (Yusuf, 2019).

Taste buds share a topology with ion-transporting epithelial and evidence now indicates that neural responses in rats to Na+ salts of differing anion are mediated by both transcellular and paracellular ion transport. Na+ exerts its effects mainly on the transcellular pathway. Neural responses to Na+ salts are enhanced by negative voltage clamp and suppressed by positive clamp in a manner indicating modulation of the apical membrane potential of receptor cells. Anion effects are mainly paracellular. Under zero current clamp increasing anion size reduces the neural response at constant Na+ concentration. Below about 50 mM this difference is entirely eliminated under voltage clamp. This suggests that paracellular transepithelial potentials normally create an anion difference. At higher concentrations the relatively high permeability of the paracellular shunt to Cl- permits sufficient electroneutral diffusion of NaCl below the tight junctions to stimulate cells that do not make direct contact with the oral cavity. In general, the sensitivity of a response to perturbations in the apical membrane potential indicates that some phase of Na+ salt taste transduction is accompanied by changes in an apical membrane channel conductance.

Indole and urea based two organic receptors have been synthesized by an easy synthetic process. These two receptors have strong sensitivity and selectivity for several bio-relevant anions. Receptor 1 and 2 were synthesized from indole-2-carboxylic acid and p-anisidine respectively, which are low cost starting materials. Receptor 1 can selectively sense anions like F(-), OAc(-) and H2PO4(-), while receptor 2 can only sense F(-) and H2PO4(-). Both receptors are silent toward anions like Cl(-), Br(-), I(-) and NO3(-). It is the difference in their shape and size which are responsible for different anion sensing. The nature of these host-guest type interactions was analyzed by convenient spectrophotometric techniques like UV-Vis, fluorescence, (1)H NMR, FT-IR studies and also confirmed by electrochemical techniques like cyclic voltammetry studies of the two ligand receptors with convenient anions.
