Aloe maculata, a petaloid monocot native from South Africa, is recorded as a member of the spontaneous flora of Argentina. This species occurs in different habitats from Córdoba province, Argentina. The aim of this work is to determine its residential status and propose novel diagnostic characters to identify this species, together with ecological observations. The species is illustrated and a distribution map is provided. Aloe maculata, una monocotiledónea petaloidea originaria de Sudáfrica, se cita por primera vez como miembro de la flora espontánea de Argentina. Esta especie crece en diferentes ambientes de la provincia de Córdoba, Argentina. Los objetivos del trabajo son determinar su estatus de residencia y proponer caracteres diagnósticos novedosos para su identificación, junto con observaciones ecológicas. Se ilustra la especie y se provee un mapa de distribución.

Three local floras were studied during the students’ zonal practice of Moscow University (2005-2014). A checklist of Khrenovskoy Bor pine-forest in Voronezh region consists of 665 species of vascular plants, including 56 new records and 6 important confirmations. Additional 73 and 50 species are reported for Zaseki in Tula region and Polibino in Lipetsk region respectively. Precise localities are reported for rare species. - Приводится состав локальных флор маршрута зональной практики студентов факультета почвоведения Московского университета, изучавшихся в 2005-2014 гг. Флора стоянки «Хреновской бор» в Воронежской области насчитывает 665 видов (в т.ч. 56 новых и 6 давно не отмечавшихся видов). Дополнительные перечни к флорам стоянок «Засеки» в Тульской области и «Полибино» в Липецкой области, опубликованным ранее, включают 73 и 50 видов соответственно. Для редких видов указаны точные местонахождения.

[An update on the flora of Romagna. Second series. (Additions)] The paper reports several floristic records mostly performed in the years 2013-2014 from Romagna territory, as in the sense by Pietro Zangheri. Although it was extensively explored in the past, that area still requires researches and yields interesting results. The paper represents the continuation of a previous paper by Giorgio Faggi, published in 2013 on this journal. The data published herein are either totally new,  or in part already published on the web. The first part deals with an annotated list of remarkable floristic records, the second part deals with some critical species or groups of species that deserve special attention in Romagna, namely: Crepis rhoeadifolia M. Bieb. (Asteraceae), Equisetum palustre L. (Equisetaceae), Onosma echioides (L.) L. (Boraginaceae), Monotropa hypophegea Wallr. (Ericaceae) and  Scrophularia auriculata L. (Scrophulariaceae). In all 12 taxa are new to the administrative region Emilia-Romagna (therefore also to Romagna territory), 9 are new the Romagna territory, and 17 taxa already known from Romagna are confirmed, being very rare or doubtfully cited in the past.  Many of them represent the Northernmost records in Italy.

The ophiolitic outcrops are very important for the flora of Emilia-Romagna, for phytogeographical reasons. Many rare plant species live in that kind of rocks, that paly a key-role for conservation of biological diversity too. A detailed description of 25 of the most important regional species is provided.

The grass Agrostis lenis Roseng., Arrill. & Izag., a presumably extinct species in São Paulo state, was recollected in that state after a gap of 89 years. This species is considered rare and threatened in São Paulo. Notes on its distribution in Southeastern Brazil, images and a short description are given.

Se cita por primera vez para Argentina Asplenium uniseriale Raddi coleccionada en el Parque Provincial Moconá, Misiones. De esta manera se extiende su área de distribución hacia el sur. Se registra la novedad de su hábito epífito sobre el rizoma del helecho arborescente Alsophila setosa Kaulf. Se propone una clave para diferenciarla de especies misioneras del mismo género con una complejidad de la lámina similar.

La parution recente dans la Revue d’Ecologie (Terre et Vie) d’une etude consacree a l’impact des goelands sur la vegetation de l’ile Rachgoun en Algerie a motive la publication d’une liste floristique personnelle de l’ile datant de 2006 mais demeuree inedite. Pour des raisons methodologiques, la publication en question fournissait une liste floristique partielle qu’il etait utile de completer ici. Par ailleurs, elle comportait egalement quelques incertitudes voire erreurs qu’il est apparu important de corriger. Certaines d’entre elles sont dues a la difficulte d’identification avec les flores classiques et/ou le mesusage des index synonymiques recents. D’autres sont dus au non-renseignement des types biologiques sensu Raunkiaer dans ces memes flores classiques. Des solutions simples et efficaces pour pallier ces insuffisances chroniques dans le domaine de la botanique maghrebine sont proposees.

This work aims to make an inventory of plants and their medicinal and cosmetic uses in the Pre-Rif (foothills of the Rif, a massif in Northern Morocco) of the province of Taza. Following ethnobotanical investigations, carried out with the local population and field surveys, 73 plant species used locally in traditional medicine have been identified, as well as six species which have ethno-veterinary properties. They belong to 39 botanical families and were collected essentially in the study area. Most remedies are prepared as decoctions (40 species) or with an aqueous base (infusion, aqueous macerate-8 species); more species are used for internal or oral administration (61 species) compared with external or local ones (27 species). The vegetation of coastal dunes of Jijel (Algeria): proposal for a new Important Plant Area.— Coastal dunes of Jijel are extended between two Important Plant Areas (IAPs), enclaving a Ramsar site. This ecosystem is fragile, very coveted by the public, and houses characteristic plant groups and species of great heritage value. Three sites have been selected for the study of vegetation using the phytosociological releve method. The floristic analysis allows compiling a list of 235 species and describing the diverse plant communities on dunes. Biogeographical analysis allows estimating at 68.3 % the Mediterranean originality of flora, and at only 2.5 % the endemism. The dunes of Jijel show a high plant richness fitting with IPA classification criteria. Some plants are new to Jijel area, and many are becoming increasingly rare and are at risk with extinction. Abstract Using essential oils (EOs) to suppress unwanted species at the seedling stage is a promising way to decrease the use of synthetic herbicides and thus protect native plant diversity. We verified the effects of rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) EOs at different concentrations on the growth and mortality of seedlings of the invasive alien species Acacia saligna derived from seeds collected at four wild populations in Sardinia and Sicily (Italy), by monitoring their survival, dry weight, shoot and root length during their early development. Six different spray solutions were applied to A. saligna seedlings: one with only distilled water; one with a solution of distilled water, ethanol and Tween 20; three with a rosemary EO concentration of 3.9, 7.8 and 15.6 mL/L; and one with the commercial herbicide DICOTEX© RTU. The seedling survival and growth decreased with the increase of EO concentrations; the patterns were similar for all populations. The highest rosemary EO concentration tested (15.6 mL/L) strongly inhibited shoot and root length, dry weight and survival of A. saligna seedlings and its effect was significantly different compared to the other EO and control treatments, except for the control with commercial herbicide, that was the more effective compared to all other treatments. Our results suggest that the rosemary EO concentration at 15.6 mL/L is a valid tool for the biological control of A. saligna. This treatment is promising because it could be applied primarily to reduce the seedlings’ emergence/development and establishment while ensuring the conservation of native plant diversity and the preservation of the Mediterranean habitats.

O presente estudo objetivou realizar o levantamento florístico das espécies da tribo Paniceae s.l. na Reserva Biológica de Mogi-Guaçu (RBMG-SP), localizada entre 22°11'-18'S e 47°7'-10'W, com o intuito de contribuir para o conhecimento da flora agrostológica desta Unidade de Conservação e do Estado de São Paulo. As coletas foram realizadas entre 2011 e 2012, totalizando 11 expedições. Foram consultadas as coleções dos herbários IAC, SP, SPF e UEC. Foi confirmada a ocorrência de 24 gêneros e 80 espécies para a RBMG-SP. Destas, 47 espécies são referidas pela primeira vez, 15 são exóticas e 12 são classificadas como ameaçadas no Estado. Os gêneros mais ricos em espécies são Paspalum (25 spp.), Panicum e Axonopus (7 spp. cada), Digitaria (6 spp.), Ichnanthus e Urochloa (4 spp. cada). São apresentadas chaves de identificação, comentários e imagens das estruturas florais de cada táxon.

Geographical variation of Carpinus betulus based on leaf and fruit morphology determined by used multivariate analysis, three plant populations of the species from north of iran, consist of Golidagh maravetapeh, loveh minodasht and Hasht par were sampled. Ten trees with at least 100 meters interval distance were selected from north of iran, consist of Golidagh maravetapeh, loveh minodasht and Hasht par from each population, and some of leaf and fruit charecters were determined.leaf samples were collected from middle crown early july Leaves were mixed together. Leaves were selected randomly for detail studies. Results indicated that without leaf length, number of serration and weight of seed, significantly difference among the populations, were seen. First five components justified 79.41 of total observed variance. Length of bract and width of leaf in first component and penducle length and width in second components showed the major role in the observed variance based on principle components analysis. Geographical variation especially in leaf morphology traits in Carpinus betulus is concluded.consisting that leaf length and weight of seed are less effected by environmental factors, they may be used as distinative in identifying Carpinus species.

Since phytoecological and biodiversity studies deepen our understanding on ecosystem functioning and habitat health status of rangelands, this study analyzed the composition and plant taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity of semi-arid steppe vegetation communities in rangelands of northeastern Algeria. Based on 80 floristic samples, vegetation was analyzed using various species diversity parameters (incidence- and abundance-based diversity and similarity indices, rarefaction and extrapolation estimations). Sampling totaled 75,197 plant individuals that were classified into 63 species, 55 genera and 21 families, with predominance of Asteraceae (33.3%) and Fabaceae (14.3%) species. Rarefaction and extrapolation curves applied for the whole steppe vegetation showed that the expected species richness was stable and no rare species could be found when increasing the sample size. Generalized linear models showed that the variation of plant diversity parameters (alpha-biodiversity) was significant among the phytoecological groups individualized. The multiple factor analysis demonstrated that inter-relationships between the phytoecological groups result from characteristics of soil surface, vegetation indicators, and dominant plant species that influenced plant diversity indices. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of similarity (beta-biodiversity) revealed high resemblances (>50%) between these groups, indicating a spatial homogenization of plant communities, which are dominated by annual species. The variation of phylogenetic diversity, estimated using taxonomic structures (i.e. genus/species and family/species ratios) was related to local environmental conditions. Phylogenetic diversity increased with the increase in total vegetation cover and the average height of Halfa grass (Stipa tenacissima), but it was negatively correlated with land degradation indicators such as sand deposit sheets, bedrock outcrop, coarse-grained materials, and plant necromass or vegetation litter). This study demonstrated that despite the recorded plant diversity, the quality of rangelands in the study area was of a therophytic character (substantial level of annuals), indicating a state of land and vegetation degradation in rangelands of northeastern Algeria.

In this contribution, new data concerning the distribution of vascular flora alien to Italy are presented. It includes new records, confirmations, exclusions, and status changes for Italy or for Italian administrative regions. Nomenclatural and distribution updates published elsewhere are provided as Suppl. material 1.

Realizamos un inventario florístico de las plantas del departamento de Huanuco, Perú basado en 30 unidades de muestreo (9 parcelas de 50 x 20 m, 4 parcelas de 50 x 10 m y 17 trayectos de 10 a 80 m de largo). Se reportó un total de 1423 individuos que corresponde a 756 especies (354 especies y 402 morfoespecies), en 403 géneros y 130 familias. Uniendo nuestros resultados con la información publicada por Bracko & Zaruchi (1993), Arévalo (1998), Ulloa et al. (2004), Salinas (2005), León et al. (2006), Salvador et al. (2006), Cachique (2009), Castillo (2009), Salvador et al. (2009) y otros, se reporta para el departamento de Huánuco 4712 especies incluidas en 1443 géneros y 226 familias de plantas (Licofitas, Pteridofitas, Gimnospermas y Angiospermas). Los resultados de estos inventarios florísticos muestran que el departamento de Huánuco es uno más diversos del Perú en especies de plantas junto con Loreto, Junín y Cuzco.

In this study 53 taxa (51 mosses, 2 liverworts) were identified by the authors. These belong to 15 families and 36 genera of bryophytes. Among them two species (Tortula truncata (Hedw.) Mitt. and Orthotrichum pumilum Sw. ex anon) are new records for the A2 grid-square adopted by Henderson for Turkey.

Abstract- The present paper gives results of floristic investigations of macrophytes in lakes on Mt. Volujak, the spatial distribution of the recorded species, and basic ecological characteristics of the milieu of life in the investigated biotopes.

The present studies were carried out to document the taxonomic studies of the tree species of Cholistan Desert of Pakistan with the aim of their precise identification and dispersal in the area. A total of ten plant species representing with six genera of Acacia Mill. (2 species), Capparis Linn. (1 species) Prosopis Linn. (2 species), Salvadora Linn. (1 species), Tamarix Linn. (1 species) and Ziziphus Mill. (3 species) were explored and studied taxonomically first time from the study area. A complete morphological taxonomic characteristics enumeration of each species with their botanical name, local name, flowering period and distribution in the project area were evaluated.
