moreThe increasing inclusion of the deaf in higher education requires actions that contribute to the learning process. In this scenario, the Brazilian Sign Language Interpreter (LIBRAS) enables communication between deaf students, teachers and peers. Thus, it becomes necessary to analyze the specifities of this profession, in order to contribute to its improvement. Therefore, the objective is to understand the LIBRAS interpreters work experiences, from the Work Psychology of assumptions. This is a descriptive study of qualitative nature. There was the observation of the performance of three interpreters in higher education, with records in a field diary for 6 weeks. As a result, the skills to mediate the deaf culture and the listener culture were beyond the prescribed work. The enriching challenge of transition between different areas of knowledge was through the recognition of the work. It was noticed that from the experiences of the actual work, the repetitive and physical fatigue proved to be present during the practice, and the face of difficulties, practical intelligence was used, allowing a creative dimension. It is highlighted the need for Work Psychology of interventions LIBRAS interpreters, so that the pointed demands (labor exercises and group activities) become reality. Thus, the process of inclusion of the deaf in higher education will be even more qualified.
