Fourth-generation wireless networks may require an integration of mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) into external network to enhance the flexibility of the communication and roaming. This phenomenon is well-suited for commercial and military applications which yield additional benefit of roaming. However, integration of MANET with external network poses a serious security challenge for communication because of open and distributed nature of the ad hoc network. In this paper, a secure privacy preserving architecture has been proposed to provide privacy and security for data communication in wireless mobile ad hoc networks. This architecture includes the concept of observer obscurity to provide privacy and security for the genuine nodes and to exclude misbehaving nodes in the network. The proposed architecture is designed based on the k-times anonymous authentication and onion routing-a cryptography concept which supports for anonymous communication. The simulation results prove the necessity and effectiveness of the proposed architecture in achieving such privacy and security in the integrated environment.

One  of  the  fundamental  purposes  and  goals  of  learning  and  teaching  around  the  world  has  been  the active  participation  of students  in  higher  education  institutions.  The  teacher's  knowledge  alone  is  insufficient  to ensure that the students understand the subject during the curricular transaction. The manner in which the lecture is delivered is equally important. As a result, in addition to the conventional method, PowerPoint presentations are being used on a larger scale. Furthermore, it enhances students' sense of pleasure and commitment and assists the teacher in attaining its objectives. It can also play an important part increating a dynamic environment for teaching and  learning  when  deployed  as  an  efficient  cutting-edge  tool.In  this  paper,  the  focus  is  given  on  understanding using PPT as an effective cutting edge tool for innovative teaching-learning and impressive presentation through a questionnaire-based online survey of 915 students and teachers from 20 different states and 2 Union Tertiaries of India and 6 overseas countries too. The analysis of the collected data confirms that using multiple modalities in PPT might bring together all types of learners, kinesthetic, auditory, and visual and provide them the opportunity to be active learners and increase their interactivity.

Over the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of researchers dealing with the integration of paper and digital information or services. While recent technological developments enable new forms of paper-digital integration and interaction, some of the original research on interactive paper dates back almost twenty years. We give a brief overview of the most relevant past and current interactive paper developments. Then, based on our experience in developing a wide variety of interactive paper solutions over the last decade, as well as the results of other research groups, we outline future directions and challenges for the realisation of innovative interactive paper solutions. Further, we propose the definition of common data formats and interactive paper design patterns to ensure future cross-application and framework interoperability.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether students of English as a foreign language (EFL) at the Lebanese University (LU) can effectively improve their language proficiency by creating digital stories. To do so, the researcher introduced digital storytelling (DST) as an optional assignment in an EFL communication course offered at LU in the fall of 2017-2018. Participants were 20 second-year student-teachers majoring in EFL education. After the completion of their individual or group digital storytelling projects, all the 16 videos were uploaded on the researcher's YouTube channel and shared on Facebook and WhatsApp. Participants then answered open-ended survey questions about their experience working on DST. Results show that most participants found the activity enjoyable and educational and were eager to repeat their experience, in spite of the technical difficulties they faced. Many participants also reported having gained more self-confidence and improved their Pronunciation, organizational, technical and research skills, as well as their ability to deliver presentations. The majority of participants found the social aspect of DST highly rewarding and enjoyed sharing their work online with their friends and other English-speakers globally. The positive outcomes of this study suggest that DST should be included in the curriculum of university-EFL communication courses. IOJET

Costa Rica és un país neotropical d’una mica més de 50.000 km2 que presenta una elevada diversitat d’ecosistemes tant aquàtics com terrestres, constituïts per almenys 90.000 espècies d’essers vius. Això permet que el país es posicioni entre els 20 primers països més biodiversos del món. La seva localització tropical, entre dos grans subcontinents i dues voluminoses masses oceàniques, junt amb la rica i activa orografia i varietat climàtica, han afavorit que aquesta petita república tingui més espècies de plantes que tota la Península Ibèrica, major nombre d’espècies d’arbres que Europa i Amèrica del Nord juntes, i el mateix pel que fa a espècies de fauna, fongs i microbis, encara molts d’ells desconeguts per la ciència.

Dins del patrimoni vegetal, es coneixen gairebé 10.000 espècies de plantes, dins les quals destaquen més de 1.000 falgueres, unes 1.400 orquídies, i gairebé 2.000 arbres com la ceiba, la caoba i fins i tot un parell d’espècies de roures, entre moltes d’altres. Abunden les plantes epifítiques, així com les palmes i en general les plantes monocotiledònies. A nivell antropològic, els 9 grups indígenes precolombins que viuen a Costa Rica, tot i que només representen un 2.5% de la població, demostren també l’elevada riquesa cultural nacional, que a més inclou poblacions importants d’origen nicaragüenc, afro-caribeny i xinès, entre d’altres.
Aquesta combinació de factors històrics, climàtics, geogràfics, biològics i antropològics fa que la diversitat biocultural costa-riquenya sigui tan elevada en un espai reduït. A partir de la recerca de doctorat desenvolupada a la Facultat d’Antropologia i Conservació de la University of Kent (Regne Unit) i en col∙laboració amb els Ngäbe de Conte-Burica, el present seminari il∙lustrarà aquesta etnobiodiversitat, introduint una selecció d’espècies alimentàries clau per aquesta comunitat, i incloent algunes de les seves característiques botàniques i culinàries que permetran evidenciar el dinamisme, riquesa i variabilitat de la gastrobotànica de la regió.

In recent years, researchers have shown a higher interest in gifted individuals, children, teen agers, and even adults. These individuals share many common characteristics such as being highly sensitive, using abstract and complex thinking, enjoying solving problems involving numbers and puzzles, and having a developed sense of idealism and justice at an early age. These are just a few characteristics mentioned in the literature. In the language classroom, teachers can design materials tailored to the needs of these students. El innegable impacto de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TICs) que han traído al ámbito académico  nuevas formas de leer, nuevas formas de escribir, nuevas formas de pensar y la aparición o modificación de géneros nos obliga constantemente a repensar nuestra práctica docente  y a estar alertas acerca de las innovaciones que nos llegan desde ese sector. La Web 2, al privilegiar la función de “usuario contribuyente”, la interacción y la colaboración,  ofrece  al docente una serie de herramientas (blogs, wikis, mapas conceptuales en red, publicación de imágenes fijas y de  diapositivas) que si bien no fueron concebidas exclusivamente para fines pedagógicos parecen útiles a la hora de encarar proyectos de enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras en el nivel superior. Pero también es cierto que tanto en la enseñanza presencial como en la impartida en entornos virtuales, esas herramientas plantean  desafíos pues imponen la necesidad de repensarlas  en términos pedagógicos para poder hacer un uso racional de las mismas.
